What is Pirate Chain?
Privacy and consensus
Pirate Chain grew from the Komodo ecosystem's asset-chain technology. It requires shielded peer-to-peer transfers rather than offering privacy as an optional payment mode. Zero-knowledge proofs validate those transfers without publicly revealing their amounts or participants. Mining uses the Equihash proof-of-work algorithm. Komodo's delayed proof-of-work system adds notarized checkpoints to the chain.
Coin issuance
ARRR is issued through block rewards. Blocks target an interval of approximately one minute. The reward halves every 388,885 blocks, or roughly 270 days. The issuance schedule approaches approximately 200 million coins. ARRR pays network transfer fees and can be held in full-node, mobile or light wallets.
Shielded pools
Sapling provides the existing shielded transaction pool. The announced Ironwood upgrade is scheduled to introduce a new pool on October 3, 2026. Ironwood uses Halo2 and removes the older trusted-setup requirement for its transactions. Existing Sapling addresses remain supported alongside the new pool. Users can move funds between the pools as the upgraded wallet infrastructure becomes available.
