What is Quai Network?
Overview
Quai Network is a Layer 1 smart contract platform built on Proof of Work consensus. It functions as a network of blockchains that can scale horizontally by coordinating an unbounded number of execution shards. The platform targets applications requiring high transaction throughput and can process more than 50 thousand transactions per second.
How it works
Quai uses the Proof-of-Entropy-Minima (PoEM) consensus mechanism to coordinate its shard network without consensus-based contention. The architecture operates as a composable multithreaded execution environment, producing blocks approximately every 1.1 seconds. Merge-mining enables efficient resource utilization across the shard network.

QUAI is the native asset of the Quai Network blockchain. Total supply is 1.1 billion tokens.
