What is Sapien?
Quality validation
Sapien evaluates data and contributions for AI workflows. Proof of Quality combines validation, scoring and consensus over submitted work. Its evaluation engine operates offchain. SAPIEN is an ERC-20 token with a documented Base deployment. The Sapien Vault provides the onchain collateral layer. Depositors receive vSAPIEN vault shares.
Vault mechanics
The vault follows the ERC-4626 standard. Validators can voluntarily lock matured shares as collateral. Locked positions cannot be withdrawn until released. The evaluation engine instructs the vault to unlock or slash collateral. Slashing burns the affected shares. It leaves their underlying SAPIEN in the vault. Governance administrators can adjust permitted settings and pause the contracts.
Staking rewards
A staking-rewards program began on August 18, 2026. Its funding comes from an existing token-generation allocation. The program does not require additional token minting. Rewards depend on program caps and staking duration. Unlocked withdrawals also remain subject to the vault's deposit-age rules.
