Game economy
The token was introduced for Axie breeding in December 2019. Breeding consumes SLP to create new Axies. The required amount depends on the breeding conditions. AXS performs a separate role in the ecosystem. Game emissions distribute SLP under the rules of eligible reward modes. Consumption removes tokens through game-related burns.
Monetary policy
In January 2024, Sky Mavis introduced a forty-four-billion-token supply limit. That limit is enforced through emission controls and a social commitment rather than a replacement contract. The policy also established a buyback and stability fund. For every ten SLP burned, two are minted into the fund. The fund can buy SLP, sell it or retain assets according to the measured supply balance. Its stated objective is two percent annual deflation. That objective is a policy target rather than a guaranteed result. Sky Mavis oversees the fund’s initial decision-making framework. Supply changes with game emissions, consumption and these policy operations.
