What is Solana?
Origin and use
Solana's Mainnet Beta launched in March 2020. The project's co-founders include Anatoly Yakovenko and Raj Gokal. SOL pays network fees and can be delegated to validators for staking rewards. Solana supports decentralized exchanges, lending, token issuance and payment applications.
Technology and supply
Solana combines stake-weighted consensus with Proof of History for transaction ordering. Its Sealevel runtime executes transactions in parallel when their account accesses do not conflict. SOL has no fixed supply cap; protocol inflation creates staking rewards, while part of base transaction fees is burned.
