What is SP500 xStock?
Underlying asset
The reference ETF trades under the ticker SPY. It provides broad exposure to large US companies through the S&P 500 Index. SPYx transfers that investment exposure into a blockchain certificate. Backed is the certificate issuer and is separate from the ETF's manager.
Collateral and rights
The xStocks structure backs certificates with the corresponding ETF shares held in segregated custody. Each product's collateral is kept separate from other xStocks. An independent security agent oversees the collateral arrangements under the legal documentation. Holding SPYx gives economic exposure through the certificate. It does not confer shareholder voting rights.
Token mechanics
The product documents ERC-20 and Solana SPL token representations. Net dividends are reinvested into additional underlying shares. A multiplier reflects these corporate actions in the holder's displayed exposure. EVM contracts adjust balances, while Solana applications use token metadata to calculate the adjusted balance.
Issuance
Primary issuance and redemption require issuer onboarding and whitelisted wallets. Those flows create or remove certificates at the prevailing underlying market price. Tokens can also be held in self-custody and used by supported DeFi applications. Distribution remains subject to the product's jurisdiction and eligibility rules.
