What is Sun Token?
Origin and token supply
The original SUN mining program began in September 2020. Participants deposited TRX into smart contracts to receive the initial token. A May 2021 redenomination exchanged each old token for 1,000 new SUN. The corresponding supply changed from 19,900,730 to 19,900,730,000 tokens. The old asset became SUNOLD, while the replacement retained the SUN name.
Governance and exchange technology
SUN.io operates through smart contracts on TRON. Its exchange infrastructure includes SunSwap and pools designed for stablecoin trading. Locking SUN produces veSUN voting power. veSUN holders can influence liquidity pool incentive weights and participate in platform governance. Locking also provides access to eligible mining boosts and fee-related rewards under the relevant pool rules.
Revenue-funded burns
The platform purchases SUN using designated portions of product revenue. Buyback sources include SunSwap V2 fees, an eligible SunSwap V3 pool, SunPump revenue and SunX net revenue. The SunSwap V3 allocation began in May 2026. Purchased tokens accumulate before being burned quarterly. These burns remove tokens from supply rather than distributing newly minted SUN to all holders.
