What is Sushi?
Trading technology
Sushi enables token swaps through smart-contract liquidity pools. Its V2 pools use an automated market maker with paired reserves. V3 pools allow liquidity within selected price ranges. Liquidity providers earn a share of pool trading fees. Positions represent claims on pool assets rather than ownership of the trading platform. Sushi also provides routing and cross-chain swap tools. Transaction settlement follows the blockchain used for each trade.
SUSHI and staking
SUSHI was originally distributed through liquidity-mining incentives. Holders can stake the token in SushiBar. Deposits receive xSUSHI representing a share of that pool. Fee revenue can increase the SUSHI represented by each xSUSHI. This staking mechanism shares trading revenue rather than validating a separate blockchain. The token also participates in Sushi's governance framework. Major proposals pass through community discussion and voting. Protocol operations and treasury execution retain team and multisignature responsibilities.
