What is Taiko?
Rollup technology
Taiko uses a type-1 ZK-EVM execution environment. Ethereum contracts and development tools can operate without modification. Ethereum validators order the proposal transactions submitted on Layer 1. The current Unzen fork uses a Shasta-based protocol architecture. Proposers submit block ranges through an Inbox contract. Provers verify execution with a composed proof system. Accepted proofs finalize the corresponding proposal range. The fast proposing path has whitelist controls, with forced-inclusion fallback rules.
Token governance
TAIKO holdings on Ethereum determine participation in the DAO. Tokenholders can use their voting rights or delegate them. Proposal-time snapshots establish the eligible holdings. Standard proposals involve Security Council approval and a twenty-one-day veto period. Tokenholders can veto those proposals in proportion to their holdings. A proposal passes when its veto rate remains below 10%. Emergency proposals follow a separate Security Council process. They require at least six Council approvals and cannot be blocked by tokenholder veto.
