What is Targon?
Compute platform
Manifold Labs was founded in 2023 and is based in Austin, Texas. Targon recruits compute operators through incentives supplied by Bittensor. Customers manage workloads through an API, Python SDK and command-line tools. Its current platform supports short-lived sandboxes, virtual machines and dedicated physical servers. Sandboxes provide isolated environments for running software and interacting with a terminal.
Confidential workloads
Targon's confidential GPU virtual machines use Intel TDX and support direct SSH access. Its bare-metal product reserves a physical server for the workload rather than sharing that host as a virtual machine. Customers select resources according to CPU, GPU and memory requirements. The provider infrastructure connects miners and validators to the compute service. These application-level services operate above Bittensor's blockchain.
Subnet economics
Bittensor introduced subnet-specific alpha tokens with the Dynamic TAO upgrade in February 2025. Targon's alpha is associated with subnet number four. Its protocol-defined supply ceiling is 21 million units. Issuance declines through the subnet's halving schedule. Rewards are distributed among the subnet owner, miners, validators and their stakers. A subnet pool provides the exchange mechanism between TAO and Targon's alpha.
