What is USAT?
Launch and issuer
USAT launched on January 27, 2026. Anchorage Digital Bank is the legal issuer. Tether developed the brand and supports the product's market introduction. USAT is designed for the United States market under the applicable federal stablecoin framework. Its target denomination is one US dollar per token. It is a separate product from Tether's USDT.
Reserve structure
The issuer holds the reserve in cash and low-risk, highly liquid investments. Its reserve policy requires aggregate assets to meet or exceed outstanding USAT's dollar value. Reserve accounts are titled to a dedicated USAT Reserve Trust. The assets are segregated from the bank's general property. Reserve assets fund redemptions. Income earned on those assets is retained by the issuer rather than paid to token holders simply for holding USAT.
Issuance and use
Anchorage issues and redeems USAT directly for its clients with an account relationship in good standing. Those transactions use a one-to-one dollar rate, net of disclosed fees. Other holders obtain liquidity through secondary-market transactions rather than automatic direct redemption access. USAT can be transferred through its supported blockchain deployments. Its circulating amount varies with issuance and redemption. Blockchain payments and the issuer's reserve-management process are separate parts of the system.
