What is Venom?
Chain architecture
The masterchain coordinates the network's configuration and validator elections. Workchains provide the environments in which applications and transactions operate. Shardchains divide workloads within those workchains. Dynamic sharding changes that division as demand changes. This architecture allows transaction processing to be distributed across multiple parts of the network. Messages connect activity between chains.
Validation
Venom combines proof of stake with Byzantine fault-tolerant consensus. Validators participate in the agreement process that finalises transactions. The network organises validator responsibilities across the masterchain and shardchains. Smart contracts run in the TON Virtual Machine environment. That execution model is separate from Ethereum's EVM.
Native asset
VENOM covers transaction and smart contract execution charges. Validators stake it to support network security. DePools allow other holders to participate through pooled delegation. The asset uses nine decimal places. Its smallest accounting unit is called nanoVENOM.
