What is Xphere?
Dual-chain design
XPHERE's main chain uses PBFT to finalise transactions. A separate proof chain uses xpHash mining. The Union is the validator group responsible for recording blocks on the main chain. This arrangement separates mining contributions from the finalisation process. Solidity contracts and Ethereum development tools can operate in the EVM environment.
Network asset
XP pays transaction fees and funds mining and validator rewards. The documented maximum supply is five and a half billion XP. One and a half billion tokens were carried over as a pre-distributed allocation from XPHERE 1.0. The remaining four billion are assigned to a century-long emission schedule. The reward amount decreases by twenty-six point twenty-eight percent each year.
Distribution and burns
Minted rewards are divided between miners, Union validators and the foundation. Transaction fees follow a separate distribution schedule. Half of each transaction fee is permanently burned. The remainder is allocated to validators, miners and the foundation. The foundation's Union Vault is a separate staking service financed by its own validator's earnings. That vault should not be confused with the protocol-wide Union reward allocation.
