What is Zano?
Origins and privacy
Zano launched in 2019. Co-founder Andrey Sabelnikov previously worked on the original CryptoNote codebase. The network supports private payments and user-issued Confidential Assets. Transaction privacy covers addresses, amounts and asset types. Auditable wallets offer optional viewing access without sharing spending authority. On-chain aliases provide readable names for addresses.
Consensus
Zano alternates Proof-of-Work and Proof-of-Stake blocks. Mining uses ProgPowZ. Zarcanum enables staking without exposing the staker's balance. Blocks target approximately one minute. The fixed reward is one ZANO per block. The successful miner or staker receives that reward.
Emission and use
ZANO pays network fees and supports staking. There is no maximum supply cap. New block rewards create continuing issuance, while all network transaction fees are burned. Net supply growth therefore depends on issuance and network activity. The project used a 3.69-million-ZANO premine for development and operating expenses. Ionic Swaps allow private peer-to-peer exchanges of supported assets in one transaction.
